Mysore/Mysuru: Several groups in Mysuru and Mandya protesting against rationalist Prof. K.S. Bhagawan for his recent remark insulting the Vokkaliga community notwithstanding, the Akhila Karnataka Vokkaligara Sangha has lodged a complaint against the writer at Devaraja Police Station this morning.
Bhagawan reportedly made the derogatory statement during his address at a ‘Mahisha Utsava’ event at Town Hall recently. These remarks have understandably caused outrage and condemnation.
The Director of the Akhila Karnataka Vokkaligara Sangha, C.G. Gangadhar, and other office-bearers have expressed their strong objection to Bhagawan’s comments. They insist that Bhagawan should face sedition charges for inciting enmity between communities.
Gangadhar has vowed to file complaints against Bhagawan in various districts across Karnataka, and they have demanded an apology from him within two days. They have also made it clear that Bhagawan will not be allowed to participate in any future public events.
The Devaraja Police have acknowledged the complaint and assured that they will review its contents. They plan to take further action against the writer after consultations with their higher officers.
