State-level Sculpture and Painting expo

Mysore/Mysuru: Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi inaugurated the State-level Sculpture and Painting exhibition organised by Dasara Fine Arts and Handicrafts Sub-Committee at Kalamandira premises in the city yesterday.

Paintings of Mysore Palace, elephant carrying Ambari and many others have been beautifully showcased by the talented artists while the sculptures of Gautam Buddha, Ganda Bherunda and others carved by the highly skilled sculptors are captivating the enthusiastic visitors.

The art works which were exhibited at the previously held State-level Painting and Sculpture workshop are being exhibited here again.

Paintings of Chamundeshwari, Mahishasura, Dr. Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and others have also been done by artists. In addition, a kaleidoscope of photographs captured on camera by Mysuru city photo-journalists are on display at the exhibition which is open till Oct.22. Public can visit the exhibition daily between 10 am and 5 pm. Entry is free.

Speaking after inaugurating the exhibition Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi said, “Our government will give more encouragement to all forms of art and I thank everyone who worked for the success of this show.”

Deputy Special Officer of Dasara Fine Arts and Handicrafts Sub-Committee A. Devaraju said that the Sub-Committee has organised a State-level painting competition on Oct.17 and an All India and State-level Demonstration and Exhibition of Handicrafts on Oct.19. Prize distribution and concluding ceremony of the exhibition will be held on Oct.22. Kannada and Culture Department Secretary Dr. N. Manjula, Director Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Committee Working President Nazia Sultana, Secretary B. Rashmi and others were present at the inaugural function.
