Voter awareness programme held at JSS Medical College

Mysuru: Voter awareness programme,  organised by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) in association with district-level Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee was held  at JSS Medical College in Bannimantap yesterday.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shilpa Nag, administered oath to the students.  “Everybody should vote to strengthen the democracy as voting is a sacred right. Our country has the highest number of youth in the world.  Good governance and politics is necessary to get fundamental infrastructure for higher studies and to take the country towards development. In this regard, the City Corporation has organised awareness programmes on electoral rights at different areas of the city,” she said.

The MCC Commissioner said that everybody should vote without giving any excuses and the development of the country depends on the candidate we elect.  “Candidate’s education, the style of working and the service rendered to the society are the factors which has to be considered while casting vote,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath said that voting rights given to all citizens are the most important element of the Constitution and added that creating awareness among the students and the public is necessary.  Everybody should vote and join hands to strengthen the development of the country, he said.

MCC Assistant Commissioner Sivananda Murthy, Zonal  Officer Priyadarshini, Development Officer Nalini, Corporation Officer Suma Kumari, College Principal Dr. Basavanagowdappa, Director-Academics Dr. P.A. Kushalappa, Satish Chandra, Puttaraju, Dr. Pramod, Dr. Ravish, Dr. Ravindra and others were present.
