Voters have negative attitude towards ruling party: Devanur Mahadeva

Mysore/Mysuru: Senior writer Devanur Mahadeva said that in the wake of Assembly polls, an independent survey conducted  by a study  team led by former Karnataka Agricultural Prices Commission Chairman Prakash Kammaradi has found that there is a strong undercurrent against the ruling party, with voters fed up with it.

He was speaking after releasing the report of the team led by Prakash Kammaradi titled ‘Free Polls – Able Government’ at a programme jointly organised by Bengaluru’s Samajawadi Vedike, Association for Democratic Studies (ADS), New Delhi and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Trust, Mysuru, at Kumar’s The White House Hotel in Bannimantap here recently. The report is published by Bengaluru’s Hittala Gida Prakatane.

Observing that despite the negative attitude, the ruling party may influence the voters through money and other allurements which will have an impact on the outcome of the  forthcoming Assembly polls, Devanur Mahadeva said that this is a matter of concern among voters, including himself.

The study was undertaken in August-September 2022, he said adding that the survey was carried out in 20 districts, during which some interesting and amazing facts and figures were discovered on issues concerning education, social justice, gender equality, religious and caste divide and such other social issues.

Pointing out that the study has discovered that there are 23 to 35 percent mystical voters, which is a very significant number, Mahadeva said that 46 percent of the voters surveyed wanted a new political formation other than the BJP, Congress and JD(S) which have ruled the State till now.

Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their frequent visits to the State with polls round the corner, he said that Shah’s visits have become so frequent that he is coming close to be called as  the ‘Home Minister of Karnataka.’
