Vriksha Varthula: A one-of-a-kind Tree Circle in Ramakrishnanagar

April 29, 2026

Sir,

There is a large peepal tree (Ashwatha Vriksha/Arali Mara) growing at the centre point of Paduvana Raste and Vishwamanava Double Road junction in Ramakrishnanagar.

The Circle is named as Gadhadhara Circle. It is a one-of-its-kind in Mysuru, where a large tree stands at the centre.

Earlier, the base was encircled by stone slabs, as the peepal tree, considered sacred, is surrounded by a stone platform. Later, some people have taken away all the stones from the loosened platform.

I feel this tree needs to be encircled by a cemented stone platform so that it protects the tree base as well as increases the beauty of this one and only Tree Circle in city. Any group of NGOs, environmentalists or official authorities should come forward to build the safety platform.
