VVCE students shine with cutting edge AI research

August 10, 2026

Mysuru: Students of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, have achieved international recognition. Their research paper has been accepted for presentation at the International Conference on Industrial Digital Twins for Smart Manufacturing (ICIDTSM 2026), organised  by IIT Madras.

The paper, titled ‘A Hybrid Contextual Reasoning Architecture for Fully Offline Conversational AI on Resource-Constrained Edge Devices,’ presents a novel system called PRISM (Priority Ranked Inference with Sensor Memory).

The system enables advanced conversational AI to run entirely offline on low-cost hardware such as the Raspberry Pi 4B with only 4 GB RAM, without requiring any internet or cloud connectivity. This makes intelligent AI more accessible, private and reliable, especially in remote and connectivity-limited environments.

The research was carried out by Under-Graduate (UG) students M. Karthik, A.V. Kiran, Om M. Doddamani, A.V. Kishor and Jeevan Nullipady Mallya.

The project reflects several months of dedicated learning, experimentation and teamwork.

The team expressed gratitude to their guide Dr. A.B. Rajendra, for his constant encouragement and valuable guidance.

They also thanked Dr. M.R. Pooja, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Dr. N.S. Prema, Head of the Department of Information Science & Engineering, for their support.

The team further expressed gratitude to Principal Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda and VVCE Management for providing an environment that encourages research and innovation.
