VVCE Team Falcon wins Indian Karting Race championship

Mysuru: Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) Team Falcon v3.0 participated in the All India-level Karting competition called Indian Karting Race (IKR) conducted by Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) and bagged four awards.

Team Falcon v3.0 is a group of 24 mechanical engineers who have designed and manufactured a manual transmission Go-kart. Go-kart is an open-wheel, four-wheeled vehicle, which is used for motor-sport road racing. Go-karting is the basic and stepping-stone to the higher ranks of motor-sports.

The competition was held in three rounds namely: Pre-virtuals, Virtuals Round and Final Championship.

Team Falcon v3.0 has brought laurels both to the college and the city by being first in both Pre-Virtuals and Virtuals rounds. The final championship was held from Feb.4 to 10 in Galgotias University, Delhi and Buddh International Circuit, Noida.

In the final championship, the VVCE team bagged four awards namely: Runners up in Cross-Pad event (Rs.5,000 cash prize), Winners in B-Plan  and Cost Report (Rs. 10,000 cash prize), ISIE Future Award (Rs. 40,000 cash prize) and Hero Electric Spirit of Indian Karting Award.

About Team Falcon v3.0

Team Falcon v3.0 is an amalgam of 15 final year students (D.L. Akash, Bharath Yogendra, Adarsh M. Rao, B.C. Chirag, Murali Krishna, Akshay Sai, M. Adithya, Ravi Teja, C. Manuj, M.D. Jayasurya, Charan, Rahul Rajeev, J. Keerthan, Rani and Ramya), 8 pre-final year students (Omkar, Pavan Chaithanya, Pavan Kumar, Chandrakant, Mohammed Akeef, Hareesh, Murali and Sreeja) and one second year student (S. Vaishnavi).

D.L. Akash and Bharath Yogendra are the Captain and Vice-Captain of the team respectively.

The team was divided into 6 departments each headed by a final year student. The departments and their heads are: Design Department – Murali Krishna, Steering Department – Adarsh M. Rao, Braking and Electrical Department – M.D. Jayasurya, Engine and Transmission Department – M. Adithya, Purchasing Department – Akshay Sai and Marketing Department – B.C. Chirag. The drivers are D.L. Akash and B.C. Chirag. The faculty co-ordinators are Prof. Arun C. Dixit and Prof. R. Shivashankar.  

The team has thanked Dr. G.V. Naveen Prakash, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering,  Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal and members of management for their support and encouragement throughout the process, according to a press release from Professor Dr. S. A. Mohan Krishna.
