Mysore/Mysuru: Six achievers from different fields were conferred Wadiyar Rajyotsava award at a programme organised at Vignana Bhavan, Manasagangothri yesterday. The award is given by the city’s Anveshana Seva Trust.
Former University of Mysore (UoM) and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa conferred the award on UoM’s Head of the Department of Physics Dr. N.K. Loknath, Chamundi Hill Temple Chief Priest Dr. N. Shashishekar Dixit, Social Worker M. Lalit Kumar Kothari, Sumana Society Co-ordinator Alice Joseph, Best Teacher awardee Dr. P.B. Indukala Urs and Elai Higher Primary School Secretary Mohammad Nasrulla.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K.S. Rangappa lauded MLA L. Nagendra for his concerns towards the welfare of the people. Noting that Nagendra is an easily accessible politician, he said that the Chamaraja MLA is a simple and humble person and such persons should be in the corridors of power. Batting for a Cabinet berth for Nagendra, Prof. Rangappa said that he (Nagendra) will be first felicitated at the same venue (Vignana Bhavan) if he becomes a Minister.
Anveshana Trust President Dr. M.G.R. Urs, in his address, said that the Trust has been recognising talented persons who have been deprived of opportunities. Pointing out that the Trust distributed 100 food kits daily to the poor during COVID-19 lockdown days, Dr. Urs announced that Prof. K.S. Rangappa’s English papers on cancer research will be translated to Kannada and released on his (Prof. Rangappa) birthday on May. 5, 2021 at Vignana Bhavan.
Earlier, MLA L. Nagendra, who spoke after inaugurating the programme, said that there are many talented personalities in the State who were working behind the scenes.
Anveshana Trust must be complimented for identifying such talented persons, he noted.
University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar presided. Mahalakshmi Charitable Trust President Shivakumar and Trust Founder-Hon. Secretary Amarnathraje Urs were present.
