Waiver of water tax: Residents stage protest

Demanding waiver of water tax and free supply of minimum quantity of water, more than 200 residents from across the city, under the banner of Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) staged a demonstration in front of the DC’s Office here this morning.

Claiming that water is their right, the protestors demanded waiver of outstanding water tax by the MCC and free supply of water to economically backward sections.

Earlier, the protesters raising slogans against the government, marched in a procession from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple to the venue. SUCI Officer-bearers G.S. Seema, Chandrashekar Meti, G. Ravi, M. Umadevi, V. Yashodara and others took part.
