Sir,
Recently, while walking through the streets of Mysuru, I have noticed a growing amount of plastic waste and other litter. Mysuru, once renowned for its cleanliness, is gradually losing its charm and turning into a city plagued by trash. Previously, every Ward within the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) limits had designated garbage containers placed every few streets for waste disposal. However, this system is no longer in place.
Now, municipal workers collect waste door-to-door, but they refuse to accept it unless it is properly segregated into wet and dry waste. In some instances, workers reportedly demand money to collect the waste.
As a result, many residents have reverted to the old habit of dumping trash on the streets instead of handing it over to waste collection vehicles. MCC workers then gather this waste, pile it up and burn it on the streets, contributing to pollution and harming nearby trees.
I urge the residents of Mysuru to hand over their waste to MCC workers and support efforts to keep our city clean. I also request civic workers to educate the public on proper waste segregation and disposal. The MCC must take all necessary steps to restore and maintain the city’s cleanliness.
By working together, we can not only keep our surroundings clean but also reduce pollution and safeguard our environment.
