Why Waste Public Money?

March 2, 2018

When the authorities knew that the road near Jaladarshini Guest House will be widened, what was the need to asphalt the stretch by wasting public money?” This is the question being asked by people now.

The authorities had asphalted the road from Metropole Circle recently knowing very well that the stretch near the Jaladarshini Guest House will be widened. “They have wasted crores of rupees of public money. This shows there is absolutely no coordination between the Government agencies that carry out development works,” a citizen told Star of Mysore.

Asphalting could have been done after the widening the road and thereby the authorities could have saved public money, they added.

To the public, spending money is indeed a waste of money when road repair works are carried out without coordination. Mere complaining is not enough. Public should take interest in how the public money is swindled and also to expose such misdeeds. Look at People’s Park where the library is constructed in violation of Park Act. Should it be demolished in the future who will lose? Similar thing happened in Cheluvamba Park thanks to the intervention of MGP.
During recent visit to the state, PM Modi criticized the present Congress government as commission seeking government. Of course he did not comment on how he will assure such things will not happen under BJP. How can we forget the corruption raj under earlier BJP dissension?
Most of the time political leaders irrespective of which parties they belong are monetizing power to get their share of commission and not interested in maximizing benefits to the society. Unless we the public come together and mobilize our power, these things will continue. Complaining like what I am doing now is not enough. We need to get involved.
