May 7, 2017

Mysuru: Kabini Reservoir which is supplying water to city has water enough for just one month and residents have to judiciously use water with no wastage.

The water level has reached rock-bottom with a storage of just 3.2 TMC (Thousand Million Cubic feet) which can feed the city for 30 days or a maximum of 50 days. If some of the quantity is supplied to Bengaluru the situation in city will be further grave.
This information was brought to the notice of Mayor, MCC Commissioner, Corporators and Officials who visited the reservoir yesterday. Kabini Reservoir feeds water to about half of Mysuru city.

Briefing the delegation on water scenario, Kabini Reservoir Executive Engineer Jagadish said that if only 100 to 200 cusecs water was allowed to feed Mysuru city, it could be used for about three months. He however contended that owing to low water pressure and a few farmers using pump sets to draw water, the supply gets affected to Mysuru city. He added that 1,000 cusecs of water was now being fed to provide adequate water to city.
