Mysore/Mysuru: A webinar series was organised by Special Interest Group (SIG) – Diabetes and Oral Care, along with Patrons of JSS Dental College & Hospital (JSSDCH), JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) from June 26 to 29.
The team was introduced by Dr. Ravindra Shivamurthy, Principal, JSSDCH. The theme of ‘Killing the killer – the Diabetes – A Kaleidoscope’ had overwhelming registrations.
Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, who was the chief guest, spoke on the importance of nutrition and lifestyle in controlling diabetes. She also stressed the importance of oral hygiene in diabetes.
Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar and Dr. P.A. Kushalappa, Director-Academics, JSS AHER, were the guest of honour.
This webinar series was arranged online considering the COVID-19 situation and to create awareness on the management of diabetes in COVID scenario.
The webinar covered a wide range of topics related to diabetes, including basic illness, pharmacology, genetics, nutrition, community factors (medical and dentistry), immunological patterns and oral & therapeutic views. Team Leader Dr. Anitha Subbappa welcomed. Convenor Dr. Suneeth Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.
Poster Competition: A National Poster Competition was also organised by the SIG, JSSDCH and JSS AHER. Nearly 300 participants had registered. The SIG team was introduced by Dr. Ravindra Shivamurthy, Principal, JSSDCH. Curaden co-sponsored the prizes worth Rs. 15,000, 10,000 and 6,500.
