Webinar on ‘Sports and Yoga’ marks National Sports Day

Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Physical Education, Seshadripuram Degree College, Hebbal Ring Road, in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell, had organised a National-level Webinar on ‘Sports and Yoga for Healthy Living During COVID-19,’ on account of National Sports Day on Aug. 29.

The webinar was attended by a wide variety of people including academicians, Physical Education Directors and scholars from across the nation.

Professor K. Sowmya Erappa, Principal, Seshadripuram Degree College, Mysuru, welcomed the resource persons and the participants to the webinar.

The webinar had two sessions. The first session was by Dr. Venkatesh, Chairman, DoS in Physical Education & Sports Sciences, University of Mysore (UoM). He spoke on the importance of the National Sports Day and urged the youngsters to keep themselves fit by practicing yoga regularly. 

The second session was handled by Dr. S. Suthakar, HoD, Physical Education, KAHE, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He addressed the participants and spoke at length about the importance of Yoga especially during COVID-19 and how it helped manifold masses to stay fit throughout.

The webinar was planned and organised with the assistance of both teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, under the leadership of Dr. R. Raghavendra, Head, Department of Physical Education.

The webinar was live both on Google Meet and YouTube. All the participants of the webinar were issued an e-participation certificate after the completion of the webinar.
