What Are The Most Popular Board Games In India Right Now?

Board Games have been a part of our lives and they have been in our lives for many generations and they are definitely gonna stay for a while. The reason why people love board games so much is that they are fun to play, you can enjoy your time, play in teams and strengthen your relations and also learn teamwork. In India, people love playing board games, and here are some of the most popular ones:

Snakes & Ladders

Currently, one of the most popular games in India that is popular among people of all ages is arguably Snakes & Ladders. The game is very much famous because of its simple nature. The game is very simple yet fun to play and that is why it is so popular among people of all ages. 

If you are living in India then you might have at least played this game at least once in your life. Players take turns to roll the dice and advance a number of blocks according to the number that gets on the dice. There are a hundred blocks on the board and the first player to reach the Home wins but beware there will be Snakes and Leaders along the way which will either toss you a few blocks down or advance you a few blocks.

Ludo

Ludo is a board game that is not only popular in India only but also in neighboring countries. Ludo is an engaging game that depends both on luck and strategy. The game can be between 2-4 players and each player gets four tokens or ‘gotis’ and has to start by rolling the dice.

It is a fun game that is played by people from all over the subcontinent, although there might be some differences between the rules, however, the basic gameplay remains the same. Usually, Ludo and Snakes & Ladder are sold together, with boards of both these games printed on the opposites of the board. Ludo is popular among players of all ages and you would see young children as well as adults playing this game.

Carrom Board

Another game that is not only commonly played in India but also in many countries across the world is Carrom. It is a wonderful board game that people in India love to play. Carrom can be played between 2-4 players and you would find many people in India playing and getting crazy over this fun board game.

In this game, there are a total of 20 smooth-surfaced discs that are placed on the table. There is an equal number of white discs and black discs. There is also a disc that is larger and heavier than the rest of the discs and is called the ‘Striker’ using which the players hit the other discs so that they can fall into the holes located at the corners of the board. There is also a red color disc, the ‘Queen’, that has higher points than other discs.

Scrabble

Scrabble is a board game that is for all people who are good at English and have a strong vocabulary. People who consider themselves good at English should play this game at least once and then they will find out how good you are at English and most of us are clueless about the English language and English Vocabulary. 

Scrabble is played using a board that consists of a 15×15 grid and Scrabble tiles, each of which has a letter printed on it along with the value of the tile. The goal of the game is to create the words using the letter tiles that you have at hand and at the end of the game, the player with the most points wins the game.

The game keeps on going until there is one player left that hasn’t gone bankrupt and is considered the winner. The game provides a great way of learning the importance of assets and financial planning plus how to run your business efficiently.
