Wild elephant blocks traffic on Kushalnagar-Mysuru Highway

April 19, 2026

Madikeri: A wild elephant, which entered Kushalnagar-Mysuru National Highway-275, blocked the traffic for some time creating panic among the motorists yesterday.

The wild elephant, which suddenly entered the Highway at about 12 noon, caused panic among the motorists, who brought their vehicles to a screeching halt as the wild elephant began to move on the Highway slowly and entered the forest area on the other side of the road before disappearing.

A few motorists proceeding towards Kushalnagar, clicked photos and made videos of the wild elephant walking on the Highway, the video of which has gone viral on social media.

It is common for wild elephants to move in this region during nights and the Forest Department officials have cautioned motorists to be careful while proceeding in this area besides asking them not to get down from their vehicles to click photos and venture close to wild elephants.
