Cancellation of Vajramushti Kalaga at Mysore Palace

Mysuru: The cancellation of ‘Vajramushti Kalaga’ during Vijayadashami at Mysore Palace has drawn criticism from the public.

The ‘jatties’ called off the traditional bout, alleging that the Police had stopped them from entering the Palace where the ritual was scheduled to take place.

Reacting to the cancellation, member of the erstwhile Mysore royal family Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said, she would comment on the issue after gathering complete details. “The cancellation of ‘Vajramushti Kalaga’ is a serious issue, but there is no need for anxiety. We believe in God. Such things can happen, and there is no need to read too much into them. As far as we are concerned, the rituals at Mysore Palace were completed on time,” she said.
