Will the authorities concerned wake up?

June 1, 2022

Sir,

Though Mysuru city competes for being ranked on the top, there is no consistent effort to keep the city spruced up to present an attractive look by taking timely action to clear the accumulation of debris.

It is often observed that there is a flurry of activities to activate Pourakarmikas in the wake of the inspecting team and after their departure, lapse into usual neglect allowing dirt and debris to accumulate.

The picture shows the footpath adjacent to the University of Mysore compound dumped with excavated  soil from the drain on the footpath lying uncleared for many days. It not only obstructs pedestrian movement but also during rains the dumped material gets into the drain. This is indicative of the indifference and downright neglect of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to pay attention to take timely action in maintenance.

The other two pictures show the sorry state of footpath on the bridges near Kukkarahalli Lake. Apart from lack of maintenance the footpath is narrowed by allowing the pipes on footpaths. These pipes are enclosed by concrete and gradually it has been done in three tiers almost up to the top of the railing. Besides it increases the load and is dangerous.

During earlier times  the MCC  Commissioner used to take personal interest to visit the spot. Now even the engineer concerned does not pay spot visit. That is the sorry state of affairs to which work culture has descended. Will the authorities wake up once again?
