Will the Railways reduce the waiting time?

June 18, 2022

Sir,

Most of the Indian Railway trains suffer from entering the final destination and Mysuru is not an exception. Except Shatabdis and Rajdhanis (even they are made to wait in Delhi / Mumbai), the wait time is too much in many cases.

I travelled in Solapur Express from Kengeri to Mysuru recently..It took only 1 hour 50 minutes to reach the New Goods Terminal, leaving Kengeri at 8.10 and reaching the tip of Mysuru at 10 am. But it was 10.35 am once we entered Mysuru Junction.

Same case while travelling to Bengaluru. But people get down in Kengeri and take alternative transport. 5-10 minutes wait is all right but 35 minutes during which we can travel back to Mandya is too much.

Why aren’t the Railway officials worried about passenger’s time? What is that technical glitch that makes the Railways to do so? Are we still in 1940-50s? With so much advancement in signalling, Metro rails can run with 1 minute frequency with CBTC,  why aren’t Railways employing?

Even Express trains can reach Bengaluru in 2 hrs 15 minutes with stoppage in every station if operated efficiently. Railways and our people’s representatives have done a lot of investment for doubling and electrification. Now let us get its benefits.
