Seventeen teams from different colleges and different parts of Mysuru took part in the Christ Cup-2022 Basketball Tournament, organised by Christ College, Mysuru, at its premises in Srirampura here on Nov. 16 and 17.
JSS School of Life Sciences (JSS SLS), Mysuru, were the Champions who secured first place and Sapient College, Mysuru, secured second place.
Professor Dr. C. Venkatesh, Department of Studies (DoS) in Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Manasagangothri, was the chief guest. He inaugurated the event by taking a free shoot in the presence of College Principal Rev. Fr. P.D. Biju, Academic Coordinator and Administrator Rev. Fr. Jinto Jose and PE Director H.S. Mohan Kumar.
Nearly ten knock-out matches were conducted on day-1. The chief guest motivated the players to give their best.
Srusti of 3rd year B.Com compered the programme. Nithya Muktha of 3rd year BA read out the profile. Vanitha Chowdry of 1st year BCA welcomed. Sajaad of 3rd year BCA proposed a vote of thanks.
On Nov. 17, in the semifinals, MICA team played against JSS SLS and Sapient against St. Philomena’s College. Finals was between Sapient and JSS SLS College in which, JSS SLS bagged the winner’s trophy and Sapient was the runner-up.
Valedictory ceremony was held on Nov. 17. Nithya Muktha of 3rd year BA compered. Sajaad of 3rd year BCA also spoke.
Rev. Fr. Biju delivered the presidential address. The trophy along with the cash prize (Rs. 2,000 for runners and Rs. 5,000 for winners) were given by Rev. Fr. Biju, Rev. Fr. Jinto Jose and Course Co-ordinator (Department of Humanities) Rev. Fr. Binu Joseph.
The referees for the event were Dinesh, State referee, Karnataka, Sanjay, State referee, Karnataka, Prajwal, MP.Ed in Basketball and Abhilash, MP.Ed in Basketball. The whole event was co-ordinated by Mohan Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, Christ College, Mysuru.
