Winners of HR Best Practices competition

Mysuru: A one-day HR Best Practices competition was organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Human Resources (HR) and Industrial Relations (IR) Panel, Mysuru in association with SDM Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD), Mysuru, on Oct. 24. 

The day-long event had 22 teams from different companies in and around Mysuru and Nanjangud for the Best HR Team Awards. 

Inaugurating the competition, Bhaskar Kalale, Chairman, CII Mysuru, spoke about how businesses are moving from concepts B2B and B2C to P2P — which is Person To Person — people connect which is the most required aspect when managing human resources in any organisation. 

He suggested the attending HR professionals not to hesitate on trying new things when it comes to connecting emotionally with all levels of the workforce.

Amit Kumar, Vice-Chairman of CII Mysuru, said that HR has evolved in the last two decades from being a time and office service to engaging with employees. He deliberated that today’s companies with less union, average age reduction and dealing with geographical and cultural difference has brought in new challenges for HR professionals to manage their employees. 

Earlier, Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDM-IMD, reiterated the need of Industry-Institute collaboration with such events being organised in Institutions will benefit their students and faculty immensely.  

The event was judged by eminent persons from the field of HR —  R. Sukumar, Past Chairman, CII Mysuru; Sandesh Naidu, Founder and CEO, ValueEx and Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, Professor – HRM & OB and Chairman – Centre for Developmental Studies (CDS), SDM-IMD.
Prize winners : Winner:  L&T Technology Services; First Runner up: ITC Foods Business Division; Second Runner up: Infosys Limited.

Three Special Awards won by: ITC Limited – Agri Business Division; Theorem India Pvt Ltd and Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited.

The competition was conceptualised and organised by the HR/IR Panel of CII Mysuru headed by Dr. Anantha Gowda, Convenor, CII HR/IR Panel,  Gopalkrishna Sastry, Co-Convenor, CII HR/IR Panel and Team.
