Winners of State-level Pratibha Karanji

Mysuru: Hundreds of students exhibited their talents at the three-day State-level Pratibha Karanji and Kalotsava – 2018 programme held at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) campus from Dec.15 to Dec.17.  The event was jointly organised by the Department of Public Instruction, District Administration and Zilla Panchayat.

The performance of folk dance, group dance, classical and Hindustani dance, yakshagana, bayalata, togalu gombe, devotional, folk, light, patriotic and film songs competition, pick-and-speak, debate, speech, public speaking contest and others drew huge plaudits from the gathering.

Prizes and certificates were handed over to the winners during the valedictory held at the same premises yesterday.

List of winners is as follows:

Light Music: Bhumi Dinesh Hegde (Sirsi) – 1st prize, Chaithra Umakantha Hebbar (Uttara Kannada district) – 2nd and D.R. Raksha Ramesh (Kolar) – 3rd.  

Pick-and-Speak: Abhimani (Chamarajanagar), D.A. Srushti (Mandya) and Kusumabai (Government High School Kanakagiri, Mysuru).

Ghazal: Srividya Padekal (Dakshina Kannada), Adithi Uday (Uttara Kannada) and Avanthi Subbaraya Hegde (Dharwad).

Debate: Gowthami Andani Doddamani, G.S. Varshita (Haveri) and Mounika (Madhugiri).

Folk Music: K.S. Sinchana (Shivamogga), Keerthinayak (Ramanagaram) and K. Ashwija Udupa (Dakshina Kannada).

Mimicry: Rithesh (Bengaluru city), Santosh (Chikmagalur) and Ujwal S. Shetty (Daskhina Kannada).

Kannada Debate: Nandini Prashanth Savanth (Karwar), Pradyumna Murthy (Moodabidri) and K.M. Supritha (Sri Rajarajeshwari High School, Madikeri).

English Speech: Inchara (Ramanagaram), Swathi N. Bhat (Sirsi) and Shriya Pai (Moodabidri).

Hindi Speech: Syeda Kounena (Poorna Prajna High School, Shivapura, Mandya),  Simran B. Kottur (Belagavi) and Azmin Banu (Dakshina Kannada).

Sanskrit Speech: Vibha (Chikmagalur), Vaishnavi Jayaprakash (Dharwad) and L. Nagashree (Sarada Vilas Girls High School, Mysuru).

Urdu Speech: Nazareth Yalavatti (Haveri), Khubaib Ahmed (Uttara Kannada) and Ruksana Begum (Bidar).

Marathi Speech: Hegde Kattamahalasa Nagendra Pai (Sirsi), B. Vaishnavi (Belagavi) and Dharithri (Dakshina Kannada).

Rangoli: M. Bhoomika (Government High School, A. Cholenahalli, Hassan), Jyothi S. Modagi (Belagavi) and B.B. Preethi (Government High School, Chikkarasinakere, Mandya).

Fancy Dress: K.S. Kavya (Uttarahalli, Bengaluru), Sachin R. Giri (Belagavi) and  Aishwarya (Haveri).

A cash prizes of Rs.10,000, Rs.5000 and Rs.3000 were given for fist three winners of Kannada, Hindi, Urdu and English speech contest winners of State-level Prathiba Karanji.

Kalotsava Contests

Music: Bagalkot’s Chikkamucchalagudda Government Adarsha School students won first prize at Kalotsava music competition, while Dharwad’s Hirehonnalli KRCS High School students stood second and Dakshina Kannada district’s Uppinangadi Indraprastha Vidyalaya students third prize.

Dance: Haveri’s Rane Bennur Government High School – 1st; Mandya’s Maddur taluk Shivapura Poorna Prajna School – 2nd and Dakshina Kannada Bantvala SVS Kannada Medium School – 3rd.

Drama: Hassan’s Kundur Morarji Desai Residential School – 1st; Bengaluru North Division -2 Yeshwanthapura  Bapu High School – 2nd; Bagalkot’s Jamakhandi Tungala High      School – 3rd.

A cash prize of Rs.60,000, Rs.30,000 and Rs.18,000 were given to first, second and third prizes winners respectively.

Speaking after distributing prizes to the winners of the competitions, Deputy Director of Public Instruction S. Mamatha expressed happiness on conducting the three-day event successfully despite the Hanur temple tragedy. As many as 3,000 participants including students from 34 educational institutions, teachers and other staff took part in the event.

Education Officer D. Udaykumar, Block Education Officers M.R. Shivaram, Shivakumar, Raju, Krishna, Sundar Murthy, Narayan, S.P. Nagaraj, Chikkaswamy, Akshara Dasoha District Education Officer Vasanthakumar and others were present.
