WISE hosts entrepreneurship development programme for women at Nagawala

Mysore/Mysuru: Women In Small Enterprise (WISE), the women’s wing of Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), had organised an Entrepreneurship Development Programme in association with Nagawala Gram Panchayat in Nagawala for rural women. 

President of Nagawala Gram Panchayat  C. Narendra inaugurated the programme and said that ‘the women from several self-help groups present here should make use of this opportunity and start their own business with the guidance of WISE-MCCI.”

President of MCCI K.B. Lingaraju said that “the Rural women should come forward to do their own business in a smaller way.  They can do many businesses from the source available at their level.  By using cow-dung, you can make vibhuti for religious purposes. Organic food products, condiments, tailoring, beautician courses and many more small businesses can be undertaken by rural women at their free time with little investment.” 

WISE wing will help the women to start their own business, added  Lingaraju.

Dr. Shobha Rani, Panchayat Development Officer, Nagawala,  who welcomed the gathering said  that marketing is a challenging field for rural women. During International Women’s Day, they were planning to organise an exhibition among three villages and showcase their products.

Presiding over the programme, President of WISE T.A. Vasanthakumari said “It was my  dream to conduct rural women empowerment programme and many more such programmes will follow covering all the villages in the district.”

 All the women should actively participate in such programmes as it will help them to start any business. WISE is always ready to help them, Vasanthakumari added.

Honorary Treasurer of WISE Kalpana Surendra made presentations on food processing and facilities available from the Government for women entrepreneurs and added that she was ready to give any assistance in this regard to startups.

Rukmini Chandran, Srinidhi Murthy, Padmini Shivanna, Padmavathi Bhat, Ramya and Shashikala Ashok of WISE shared their experiences and motivated the gathering.

Vice-President of WISE Malini Srinivasan proposed a vote of thanks. Bharathi compered. 

Around 50 rural women participated in the Entrepreneurship Development programme.
