Woes of a train traveller

August 29, 2023

Sir,

On a meeting, I had to go to Hyderabad for a day’s visit with a few of my friends. Since there is a direct train from Mysuru to Kacheguda and back daily we thought it would be convenient to go and return by train, instead of flight whose timings were not convenient.

The train though named and charged for as Superfast is neither fast nor maintained clean. The onward journey by Train No. 12786 on Friday the 25th was ok running about half-an-hour late allowing us to be in time for the meeting on Saturday morning. But the return journey by the same train and coaches but numbered as 12785, it was horrendous as it started from Kacheguda 30 minutes late and accumulated delay by hours by the time it arrived at Dharmavaram.

While the train had to arrive at KSR Bengaluru at 6.35 am, it arrived at 9.45 am. Well as we expected the train was made to stand still to make way for Vande Bharat Express and Shatabdi racing down from Chennai to Mysuru one behind the other. So one more hour was added to the delay and we arrived at Mysuru at 1.40 pm, four hours late with empty stomach as no food was available to us anywhere.

Well the travellers of Superfast Express are lesser souls  as compared to travellers of prestigious trains like Vande Bharat and Shatabdi. God should only save us with better alternative!
