Over 2,000 take part in Chamundi Run

More than 2,000 participants took part in the District-level Chamundi Run, a Road Race organised by Palace Sports Club, Kuvempunagar,  as part of Independence Day and National Sports Day in the city on Sunday.

Former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, who spoke after flagging off the race at Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Circle, said that sports should be an integral part of our children and youth.

Noting that the youth should not be satisfied only at taking part in such competitions and must be active in sports all the times, Rajeev said it is important for the young to choose at least one sport of their choice and make efforts to excel in it. He further pointed out that taking part in sports should not be restricted only to winning prizes, but also for maintaining health.

National Shot-Put Athlete V. Ambika was felicitated on the occasion.

The winners of the Road Race are as follows:

High School (4-km)

Boys: 1st prize – H.P. Dore of Kannika Cauvery School; 2nd – R. Krishna of Demonstration School (DMS) and 3rd – B. Amogh of Marimallappa’s School.

Girls: 1st – S. Ankita; 2nd – N. Manasa and 3rd – M. Ananya, all of Kurubur School, T. Narasipur.

Primary School (2-km)

Boys: 1st – Ajay Prithviraj of Teresian School, 2nd – Mohammad Abidin Jaimul of Delhi Public School and 3rd – Vishal Uthappa of Pragathi Elite Public School.

Girls: 1st – S. Jayashri of Puttaswamy School, 2nd – Harshika of Pragathi Elite Public School and 3rd – Inchara of Kurubur School, T. Narasipur.

Karnataka Pradesha Kurubara Sangha State President B. Subramanya and Dr. Shashidhar of Co-operation Department distributed prizes to the winners.

Corporator Lakshmi Kiran, Arun of Police Department, Palace Sports Club Office-bearers M.N. Ramesh, Prakash, K.V. Raghavendra, S. Shivakumar and others were present during the programme.
