H.D. Kote: An elderly woman, who was allegedly abandoned by her daughter at a deserted place near Antharasanthe in H.D. Kote taluk, has been rescued by the local residents yesterday. The locals, who provided food and water to the elderly lady, brought her to Antharasanthe Police Station and handed her over to the Cops.

Details: Yesterday, the local residents, who saw a frail lady said to be in her nineties, sitting in a shocked state in a deserted place went and enquired her.  The elderly woman, claiming to be from Mysuru, told them that she had fallen and injured herself at her house and her daughter and son-in-law had brought her to get her treated.

The woman told the locals that her daughter and son-in-law had told her to wait here and left the place, but has not returned. She also told the villagers that she would wait till her daughter comes back. The villagers, who waited with the lady for more than two hours, tried to know more details about her, but the elderly lady apart from telling that she was from Mysuru, was unable to provide more details.

Unable to see the old woman suffering, the villagers brought her food and water and later took her to Antharasanthe Police Station and handed her over to the Cops. Here too, the elderly lady told the Cops that she was from Mysuru but was unable to provide address and pleaded the Cops to send her home. The Police later summoned an ambulance and admitted her to H.D. Kote General Hospital besides informing the Women and Child Development Department officials.

Meanwhile, Women and Child Development Department Officer Asha, who reached the hospital along with other officials said that the elderly lady would be housed in Mathrushree Home for the Aged in K.R. Nagar, till her family members are traced.

The villagers, cursing the old lady’s family members for leaving her in a deserted place, said that even if the lady had come on her own, it is the responsibility of the family to trace her.
