Woman who attempted suicide, rescued

Srirangapatna – An elderly woman from Bengaluru who attempted suicide, was rescued by Fire and Emergency Services personnel on Thursday morning. Girijamma, 67 of Ullala in Bengaluru is the woman who attempted suicide.

Girijamma who was reportedly suffering from an ailment for long, arrived at Srirangapatna by a train on Wednesday evening and spent the night at the Railway Station itself.

Next day morning, she  visited Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in the town and later tried to end her life by jumping from Wellesley Bridge nearby. Locals, who learnt about Girijamma’s intention, informed the matter to Fire personnel, who rushed to the spot, rescued her and later admitted her to the hospital.

Srirangapatna Police have registered a case in this regard.
