Mandya: In a heart rending incident, a 35-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter were killed on the spot when a tipper allegedly ran over them at Holalu village in the taluk yesterday afternoon. However, the woman’s husband escaped with minor injuries.

The deceased are Shashikala (35) and her daughter Lavanya (4). Shashikala’s husband, who escaped with minor injuries, is Devaraju, all residents  of Hadya village.

As the couple’s daughter Lavanya was ill, Devaraju, along with Shashikala had taken their daughter to a private hospital in Mandya yesterday morning              and after getting their daughter treated, they were returning to their village on their scooter (KA-11-EN-9016). 

When they reached the Circle at Holalu village, the tipper (KA-11-B-9408) reportedly rammed into the scooter resulting in Shashikala and her daughter falling on the road and the tipper running over them, killing them instantly.

Rural Sub-Inspector Siddaraju and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies to the District Hospital. 

A case has been registered at the Rural Police Station.
