Woman trampled to death by Jumbo

H.D. Kote:  In an early morning incident, an elderly woman was trampled to death by a wild tusker near Kallambalu in Sargur taluk.

Mahadevamma (65), wife of Kalappa, of Kallambalu is the victim. Mahadevamma, as usual went to her farmland that borders a forest, at 6.30 am today, when a tusker which had strayed into the agricultural fields, trampled her.

The villagers after hearing the trumpeting of the pachyderm, rushed to the spot, when they found Mahadevamma in a serious condition. The elephant ran back into the forest upon seeing the villagers rushing towards it. Mahadevamma was rushed to H.D. Kote General Hospital and later was being shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, when she breathed her last en route, it is learnt.

DCF Dr. K.C. Prashanth Kumar, H.D. Kote Tahsildar Manjunath, MLA Anil Chikkamadu, H.D. Kote CPI Puttaswmy, PSI Puttaraju and other officials visited the spot.
