But what has to be noted is that, the incident took place in broad daylight when motorists were moving on the road, but none of them made attempts to stop the crime.

The woman, who lost her 40 gram gold chain, is 27-year-old Savitha, a resident of Railway Layout. Savitha, who had been to her relative’s house at Manchegowdanakoppal, was proceeding towards her home on her Honda Dio scooter, when the face mask wearing bike-borne miscreants came from behind, snatched her gold chain in public view and sped away at about 1.15 pm.

Vijayanagar Inspector Balakrishna and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar besides registering a case. The chain snatching incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed at various shops on the road and the Police, who have collected the footages, have launched a hunt to nab them.

Meanwhile, Inspector Balakrishna said that a few desperate youths, who are jobless due to lockdown, may have committed the crime and advised women, senior citizens to take precautionary measures while stepping out of their houses and avoid wearing jewellery while going for walks.
