Women and Children Dasara at J.K. Grounds from Sept. 27

Mysore/Mysuru: The Women and Children Dasara, one of the main attractions of Dasara festivities, will be inaugurated at J.K. Grounds on Sept. 27, a day after the inauguration of Dasara festivities. The Women and Children Dasara will be held for 5 days this year.

Apart from cultural programmes, various competitions are being organised on the occasion. In addition, fashion show, mimicry, hilarious comedy programmes will be the other attractions of Women and Children Dasara this year. Women Entrepreneurs will be given an opportunity to show case their products and do business.

The Women and Children Dasara, by organising a variety of programmes, intends to encourage Women, Children, Specially Abled and Transgenders by bringing them all under one forum.

On Sept. 27, Women and Children Dasara will be flagged off from the famous Mysore Palace premises through ‘Rangoli Chittara’ and will be inaugurated at J.K. Grounds Mysore Medical College Alumni Auditorium. From 7.30 am to 9 am on that day Rangoli competition will held in the Palace premises and at 11 am, Women and Children Dasara will be inaugurated. Later, Children of Government Bal Bhavan will take out a cultural procession, traditional dance from the women of Kodava Samaja, Fashion Show based on based Ravivarma Painting by Apollo BGS Hospital’s women doctors and a music programme of bhavageete and folk songs will be held.

On Sept. 28, apart from various competitions for Women and Transgenders, a Mimicry Show by Mimicry Artist Gopi and a drama will be staged by children. While ‘Ragi Beesuva Sparde’, fancy dress and ‘Cooking without fire’ competitions are being held for women. Pot breaking and Lemon & Spoon competitions will be organised for transgenders.

Anganwadi Workers Day

On Sept. 29, Anganwadi workers will take part in various competitions. Humorist Sudha Baragur will entertain the audience. Competitions like running with vessels filled with water, Blowing of Balloons, Singing and Hair Style competitions will be held for Anganwadi workers.

Children’s Dasara

For the young children of Anganwadi, Children Dasara has been organised on Sept. 30 and Jnanesh of SaReGaMaPa fame will inaugurate Children Dasara. Fancy dress competition, cutting of vegetables in various designs competition have been organised for children on the occasion. Later, a comedy show by Raghavendra of ‘Majabharata’ fame and troupe will entertain the audience.

On the last day of Oct. 1, several competitions have been organised for senior women and specially abled women. Brisk Walking, Bucket-in-the-Ball, mono acting and other competitions will also be held.

In addition, cultural programmes will be performed by the specially abled children.

Sales and Exhibition

“To encourage women entrepreneurs of Sthree Shakti Self Help Groups (SHGs), 42 stalls will be set up where priority will be given to the sale and exhibition of handicrafts and beauty enhancing products. Through this, women are encouraged to lead an independent life,” said Women and Children Dasara Sub-Committee Dy. Special Officer and ZP Dy. Secretary (Administration) Premkumar to Star of Mysore.
