March 24, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: A two-day State-level meet of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Women’s wing will take place in city on Mar. 25 and 26.

Announcing this at a press meet here on Thursday, KPCC Women’s wing State President Dr. B. Pushpa Amarnath said that the meeting will take place at Olive Garden, opposite Horse Park on Maharana Pratap Singh Road, Nazarbad in city.

Pointing out that over 250 office-bearers and district Presidents of Women Congress of all 36 organisational districts will be taking part, she said that AICC Women’s Wing President Netta D’Souza will take part.

Stating that the meet inauguration will take place at 10.30 am tomorrow (Mar.25), Dr. Pushpa said that the meet will discuss the strategies to be adopted for the forthcoming Assembly polls.

When asked how many seats the Congress will allot to women, Dr. Pushpa said that there were less women aspirants in Mysuru region and the party would consider their winnability before allotting tickets. The High Command would take a decision in this regard, she added.

Replying to a question on whether she would contest from T. Narasipur Assembly segment, Dr. Pusha maintained that she is not as aspirant for the seat. Already former Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and his son have done a lot of work there and she would support them.

Arguing that Rajiv Gandhi as the Prime Minister had given reservation for women in local bodies, she said that she could become the Mysuru ZP President only because of this reservation. KPCC Women’s wing Vice-President Pushpavalli, City President and former Mayor Pushpalatha Chikkanna and District President Latha Siddashetty were present.
