Mysuru: The Silver Jubilee of Mysore Ladies Association will be celebrated with a “Women’s Convention for Women Empowerment” on June 21 at Kalamandira. 

Addressing the mediapersons at Hotel Siddhartha here yesterday, Association President Mallige Veeresh said the event will be inaugurated by MLA K. Harishgowda at 10.30 am.  Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar and MLA G.T. Devegowda will be the chief guests.  

Former Advocate General of Karnataka Prof. Ravivarma Kumar will deliver the keynote address. Advocate Sumana will deliver Convention address. Former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev will be the  special invitee.  

The special lectures by Prof. Ravivarma and Sumana will  create awareness among women on various provisions of law with respect to family dispute, separation among others.  

This apart, resource persons will deliver lectures on various women empowerment schemes announced by  the government.  

On the occasion, the Association will felicitate women achievers including former Minister Geetha Mahadevaprasad, CESC MD M.S. Archana, Additional DC R. Aishwarya, Mysuru Zoo Executive  Director P. Anusha and University of Mysore Registrar M.K. Savitha.  

The Association has also organised rangoli, drawing and painting, cooking without fire, traditional bride, singing and lucky lady competitions. The valedictory ceremony will be held at 5 pm. Avadhoota Datta Peetham Junior Pontiff Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji will grace the occasion.
