Mysuru/Mysore:  “Women are closer to nature. Many aspects of nature can be seen in them,” opined Vidu. Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra.

Speaking after inaugurating Women’s Day celebrations held at Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University here recently, she said, “Every village in our country has a resident ‘goddess’ who is invoked as a living deity. Ancient India had built respect and reverence for women. Nowhere else in the world can we see this kind of culture.”

“Rivers are worshipped as mothers in our country. We can see that each river has its own uniqueness. Women are the primary caretakers of children and elders in every country of the world. She is a multi-tasker. Amidst all these responsibilities, women have contributed an unbelievable amount of knowledge, discovery, and talent in every field throughout history,” she said.

Later, prizes were distributed to winners of various contests organised for female teaching and non-teaching staff as well as girl students of the Music University, as part of Women’s Day. 

In-charge Vice-Chancellor of Music Varsity Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote, Registrar Prof. R. Rajesh, Finance Officer M. Lokesh, journalist Vishalakshi Bhuvaneshwari and others were present.
