New Delhi: The Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry has developed a new web portal, NARI, for women to provide them with “an easy access” to information about over 350 government schemes and initiatives taken for their welfare both at the State and Central level. The portal is set to be launched by the WCD Minister Maneka Gandhi today.

“Both the Central and the State Governments have implemented a number of schemes and laws for women to provide them equal rights, economic opportunities, social support, legal aid, housing etc. However, there is often a lack of awareness of these provisions and difficulties in accessing their benefits,” a Ministry official said.

Information related to women- centric schemes and legislation are “all scattered” on different websites and portals. The NARI portal provides links to the government Ministries, Departments and autonomous bodies offering schemes meant for women.
