Wooden items worth Rs. 15 lakh gutted in fire

April 15, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Wooden items such as old doors, windows and other items, stored in a godown at Raghavendranagar, was completely gutted in the fire yesterday night. The godown is said to have been owned by one Syed Muzahid and the workers, who noticed the fire, immediately informed Bannimantap Fire Station at about 9.10 pm.

Over 60 Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who rushed to the spot along with eight fire extinguishing vehicles, began to douse the fire at about 9.20 pm and finally brought the fire under control at about 7.30 am today. But the fire had destroyed wooden items worth Rs. 15 lakh by then. It is suspected that short circuit led to the fire.

Chief Fire Officer P.S. Jayaramaiah, Regional Fire Officer P. Chandan, District Fire Officers K.P. Gururaj, K.C. Ramesh, K.J. Ganganayaka and Raghavendra led their staff in the fire extinguishing operation.

Udayagiri Police, who reached the spot, conducted mahazar and have registered a case.
