Mysuru: The Department of Orthodontics, JSS Dental College, conducted a comprehensive workshop titled ‘Saga of Art & Science behind Aligner Treatment’ with the speaker being Dr. Dharma Deep, Pulla Reddy Dental College, Guntur, AP.

Aligners are custom made series of trays crafted using advanced technologies for straightening the teeth. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastics. Clear aligners are an alternative to traditional braces and are designs to help guide teeth into their proper position. Similar to braces, clear aligners use gradual force to control tooth movement, but without metal wires or brackets.  

Dr. Dharma Deep spoke on the basics of aligner treatments and its clinical usage. He also showcased many of his successfully treated cases with clear bite aligners.

The workshop was very useful for the PG students and faculty of the Department to gain more knowledge about the mechanisms involved in aligner therapy.
