Workshop on “Challenges in Students’ Project Work” held

Mysuru: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, conducted a one-day workshop on “Challenges in Students’ Project Work” for the final year students recently at  its seminar hall.

The objectives of the workshop were to educate the students about the selection process of a project, framing the objectives, literature review, project methodology, formulation, design aspects and considerations, fabrication process, analysis, and eventually the conclusive remark.

In the engineering curriculum, the students of eighth semester are supposed to carry out the project work and they need to know about the quintessence of the same. Resource persons from different parts of the State addressed and guided the students.

D. Satheesh Kumar, Vice-President and Plant Head, Rane Madras, who was the chief guest, emphasised the method of selecting the projects. Dr. B. K. Sridhara, Professor, NIE, Dr. T. Jayaraju, HoD of Mechanical Engineering, NIEIT,  Dr. N. S. Sriram, Dean, Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology, Manjunatha Byndoor, Managing Director, Muorhopye Scientific Laboratories, Dr. D. K. Ramesh, Professor, UVCE, Bengaluru, Dr. B. J. Manujesh, Professor, VCET, Puttur, H. R. Harish and Dr. P. Dinesha from MIT, Manipal were the resource persons.

The workshop was coordinated by Prof. C.S. Thamme Gowda, Prof. K.G. Vismay and Prof. S.A. Mohan Krishna. Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal, Dr. G. B. Krishnappa, Dean (R&D), Dr. L. J. Sudev, Head of the Department, staff  and over 100 students participated in this workshop.
