December 11, 2017

Mysuru: A two-day capacity-building workshop on ECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code) was organised by The Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India, in association with UNDP-GEF (United Nations Development Programme – Global Environment Facility) and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) for architects, builders and civil engineers recently in city.

Prakash Achary, Section Head, Master Control Facility (MCF) – ISRO, Hassan, inaugurated the workshop by switching on a LED solar lantern.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Buildings are major consumers of energy in their construction, operation and maintenance phase. Energy consuming systems for lighting, air-conditioning and water heating provide comfort to its occupants but consumes large quantum of energy. Taking the utilisation of consumption into consideration, it is necessary to design a building that focuses on energy conservation aspects.

He added that ECBC encourages energy-efficient design or retrofit of building so that it does not constrain the building function, comfort, health, or the productivity of the occupants.

Following the inauguration, a technical session was conducted by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)-certified ECBC Master trainers Kuldeep Kumar and Shivakumar Bathra.

D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Engineer, KREDL, was also present. More than 100 Architects, Builders and Civil Engineers participated.
