Workshop on Energy Conservation for Ladies Club Members

Mysuru: With the objective of creating a sense of responsibility among ladies towards the current energy crisis and inspiring them to take action to spread awareness on renewable energy resources, a workshop was organised by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL)  here recently.

At the workshop, more than 170 women got first hand understanding of how solar water heaters, solar cooking stoves, street lights and solar LED lamps work.

Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Principal, Police Training Institute, inaugurated the workshop.

She said that earlier firewood was being used to cook food; later people started using kerosene stoves, induction stoves, LPG stoves and later the   solar cookers.

Stating that we all must realise our responsibility to pass on a pollution free environment to our next generation, she briefed on the importance of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation to save our planet.

D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Engineer, Branch office, KREDL, explained about the Renewable Energy progress in India and various subsidy schemes available from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Government of Karnataka for installing Rooftop Solar Grid connected system, Remote Village Electrification Programme, NABARD Scheme for Rural Domestic Solar Home Light Systems and  Solar Water Pumping Systems.

President and Secretary, Inner Wheel Clubs of Mysore and other Ladies Club Association President, Secretary and Members participated in the workshop.
