Mysore/Mysuru: City-based Nrityagiri Performing Arts & Research Centre has organised a workshop titled “Shastravalokana — An Insight into the Dance Theory” for Bharatanatyam students appearing for Music and Dance exam to be conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board.
The workshop will be held from Nov. 18 to 22 at Nrityagiri Centre in Preethi Layout, Srirampura 3rd Stage. Students from Senior-level and above are eligible to participate.
Vice-Chancellor of KSGH Music and Performing Arts University Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote will inaugurate the workshop on Nov. 18 at 5 pm. H. Chennappa, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture, will be the chief guest. Dr. Rama V. Bennur, President of Ganabharathi, will preside.
Nov. 18 – 5.30 pm to 7 pm: Dr. K. Kumar will talk on ‘Characteristics of Nayaka and Nayaki, Chaturvidha Abhinaya.’
Nov. 19 – 5.30 pm to 7 pm: Vidu. Roopasri Madhusudhan on ‘Rasa-Bhava.’
Nov. 20 – 4 pm to 5.30 pm: Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao on ‘Ballad, Dance-dramas, Bhagavatha Mela, Koravanji’; 5.45 pm to 7.30 pm: Vid. H.L. Shivashankara Swamy on ‘Talaprakarana.’
Nov. 21 – 10 am to 11.30 am: Dr. Rama V. Bennur on ‘Raga Lakshana and Musical Instruments’; 11.45 am to 1.15 pm: Dr. Sheela Sridhar on ‘Sanskrit Literature and Dance, Shiva and Sapta Tandavas’; 2.30 pm to 4 pm: Dr. Kripa Phadke on ‘Indian Folk Dances’; 4.15 pm to 6 pm: Dr. Deepa Phadke on ‘Navavidha Bhakti and Dasa Sahitya.’
