Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore (UoM), has organised a workshop on “Complementary Therapies in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Interplay between Diet and Gut Microbiota” on Feb. 15 at IOE Auditorium, Vijnana Bhavan, Manasagangothri.
Students of Nutrition & Dietetics, Research Scholars, Parents, Caretakers of ASD, Nutritionists, Dietitians, Clinicians and health care professionals may attend the event. The following Resource Persons will address the workshop:
Dr. Nawab Akhthar Khan, Associate Professor, Clinical Psychology Department, JSS Hospital, Mysuru (Topic: Overview on Autism); Dr. Vimal Karani, Associate Professor, University of Reading, UK (Gut microbiome and its implications); Dr. Asna Urooj, Professor, University of Mysore (Nutrition therapy in Autism); Kumar Sankaran, CEO, Leucine Bio Rich Pvt. The workshop is based on the Department’s studies which have shown variations in dietary intake leading to nutrient imbalance and micro-nutrient deficiencies which impacts the behavioural episodes, growth and development.
