Mysuru: In an effort to make policing a people-friendly one, a workshop on ‘People-friendly Police’ was held at Karnataka Police Bhavan on Lalitha Mahal Road in city this morning.
For the first time in the State, authorities have taken up the concept of People-friendly Police initiative in Mysuru.
The workshop was inaugurated by City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna by lighting the lamp. DCPs Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda (Law and Order) and B.T. Kavitha (Crime & Traffic), ACPs Shivashankar, Shashidhar, Mariappa and other Police personnel participated in the workshop.
People-friendly Police Project is an opportunity to enhance the attitudes, skills and knowledge of Police personnel in Police Stations, particularly in their treatment of women and children. People often feel scared and nervous to approach Police and this initiative is being implemented to eradicate such complexes among the people and make the Police people-friendly.
Speaking to press persons about the progress made by the Police in MLA Tanveer Sait attack case, Balakrishna said that the investigation is in progress and said that he will provide details about the case in about a month’s time.
Meanwhile, Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda took charge as the new DCP (Law and Order) yesterday morning.
