Workshop on Testing and Evaluation for Tamil teachers held at NTS-I

March 5, 2017

A five-day training-cum-workshop on Testing & Evaluation and Item Writing (Phase-II) for Tamil Teachers and Research Scholars of various Universities was held at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru from Feb.27 to Mar.3.

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, Prof. P. Rozario Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum-Deputy Director of CIIL spoke about the importance of testing and evaluation methods in the current educational system. He further said  that current techniques of testing and evaluation should be implemented from Primary to University-level of education.

Prof. Sam Mohanlal, former Professor of CIIL, said that sometimes teachers use tough and ambiguous language to assess the subject which is not correct. The language used should be correct, balanced and communicative.

Dr. M. Balakumar, former Reader-cum-Research Officer, CIIL, encouraged the participants to make maximum use of this opportunity by implementing what they learnt in this workshop in their own respective classrooms.

Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer In-charge of NTS-I, welcomed.  Dr. V. Ilangovan, SRP and Dr. R. Shakunthala, JRP, NTS-India coordinated this training programme. Prof. D. G. Rao, Director, CIIL, was the overall patron of the workshop.

Around 16 Assistant Professors and Research Scholars who are engaged in teaching/research of Tamil (Language & Literature) in recognised Undergraduate colleges and Universities across the country participated in this training workshop. The participants developed about 900 question items.
