Mysore/Mysuru: As part of World Cancer Day, an awareness programme was organised by Basudev Somani College in association with Rotary Club of Mysore South East in the College auditorium recently.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ramakrishna, Consultant Medical Gastroenterology (Clearmedi Radiant Hospital, Mysuru) and all the dignitaries by watering the plant.
Speaking on the occasion. Dr. Ramakrishna gave detailed information about the disease and informed students that World Cancer Day is celebrated on Feb. 4 every year with different themes, and the theme for 2022-24 is ‘Close the Care Gap.’
He provided details about various types of cancer, their effects and ways to avoid them. He also assisted students in educating their family members about cancer and how to fight it.
Rtn. S. Vasudevan, Assistant Governor, Zone-8, Dist. 3181, spoke briefly about Rotary Club and stressed the need for awareness about cancer.
Dr. Mahadevaswamy, Principal, Basudev Somani College, presided. Syeda Nishad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Postgraduate Studies in Commerce, compered.
Rtn. M. Mohan, President, Rotary Mysore South East, proposed a vote of thanks. All the teaching, non-teaching staff and students were present on the occasion.
