World Day against Child Labour on June 12

Mysuru: Additional DC G. Anuradha has directed the officials of Department concerned to sensitise the school students and public by holding awareness programme on account of World Day against Child Labour to be held on June 12 in city.

Presiding over the preliminary meeting at the DC Office on Friday, she wanted the officials to put an end to this practise by intensifying raids and carrying out surprise inspections, in particular at Hotels, Malls, Brick Factories where child labour is rampant.  

She also sought the officials to hold street plays in those areas to educate them about the ill-effects of child labour and their educational rights. Officials must focus on holding such programmes at Hunsur and Periyapatna taluks’ tribal hamlet. They should also take all possible steps to ensure education for children of migrant labourers’ coming from other States, she added.

Assistant Labour Commissioner A.C. Thammanna, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development K.  Padma and others were present.
