Yashas Chandra fares well

City’s upcoming golfer Yashas Chandra of JWGC, representing India in the Sanlam South African Amateur Golf Championship held Port Elizabeth in South Africa entered the quarter-finals in the Match Play event held recently.

In the two-day qualifying round, he returned with a card of (72, 67) 5 under the course to qualify for the match play event. In the first round of match play he won against Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa and in the second round he won against Slade Pickering also of South Africa. In the third round Yashas Chandra posted a win against Jeremy Freiburqhaus from Switzerland to enter the quarter finals. Christo Lamprecht of South Africa won the tournament.  Earlier he won against Yashas Chandra in the quarter finals to move further ahead in the tourney.

Yashas Chandra will also be playing the International African Amateur Championship at Leopard Creek Golf Club adjacent to Kruger National park, South Africa this week.
