New Delhi: Former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will be the BJP’s Chief Ministerial face in the Assembly polls scheduled early next year, Party National President Amit Shah said on Friday.
During an interaction with the media, Shah also indicated that Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani would be the party’s choice for the top post in the State, asserting that it would win more than 150 seats in the Assembly polls slated later this year. The Assembly has 182 seats.
“It (Karnataka election) will be fought under Yeddyurappa,” Shah said. Asked if it meant that Yeddyurappa, who is the BJP’s Karnataka unit Chief, will be the Chief Ministerial face, he said, “He will be.”
The Karnataka unit has been facing factional fight with a group headed by former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa targeting Yeddyurappa’s leadership.
To a question on the party’s state of affairs in Karnataka, Shah said that he would visit the State soon.
The party had recently taken action against some leaders, suspected to be behind the internal wrangling.
The chief of BJP Mr. Amit Shah has submitted that in Karnataka, they don’t have any good candidates for CM post, if they win. We all know that Mr. Yeddy was sent to jail by the report of Sri. Santosh Hegde, the former head of Lokayukta on corruption charges. Yeddy was the only CM of Karnataka who went to jail while in power. Later on Yeddy had to resign from CM post. Then he quit BJP and formed KJP party. BJP due to its corrupt administration lost in elections and Congress came to power.
Now honestly speaking, Congress is doing better administration of the state compared to BJP’s rule due to eminent CM Siddaramaiah, who is known for clean hand, pro-poor, pro-farmer, pro-backward inclinations. Seeing all these, BJP should have considered someone else other than Yeddy, as he is considered a tainted leader. Due to Yeddy, it is advantage, Congress!!
