Mysore/Mysuru: A 24-year-old youth was allegedly murdered by his friends over a petty issue at Mellahalli village in the taluk on Nov. 9 night.

The deceased youth is Manoj Kumar of Mellahalli village.

It is learnt that a few days ago, a fight had taken place over a birthday issue with his friends Raghu, Kiran, Shankar and Sachin. On Nov. 9 night, when Manoj was on his way home, the four friends, who came on bikes allegedly stabbed Manoj and fled from the spot.

Villagers, who saw Manoj, lying in a pool of blood rushed him to the nearby private hospital, but Manoj had breathed his last by then.

Varuna Police, conducted mahazar, registered a case, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary besides launching a hunt to nab the four accused.

Post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to Manoj’s family members.
