Youth arrested for kidnapping minor girl

July 9, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Krishnaraja (KR) Police have on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old youth for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl from her house in city and have registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against him.

The arrested youth has been identified as Kiran, a resident of Sunnadakeri. Kiran, who is said to be in love with the 17-year-old girl, kidnapped her on July 6 at about 6 am from her house. As the lockdown was in force, Kiran was unable to take the girl out and had stayed in city.

The Police, who were on a lookout for Kiran, spotted him near Ramakrishna Pramahamsa Circle on Tuesday and arrested him when he tried to flee from the spot.

K.R. Police, who have registered a case of kidnap, have also registered a case under various columns of POCSO Act.

As the girl has refused to go back to her home, the girl has been housed in the Government Girls Balamandira in city, according to KR Inspector Srinivas.
